About
Ashley Stroud
Originally from Texas, Ashley grew up exploring all art forms from a young age at the Glassell School of Arts in Houston. Photography, jewelry making, ceramics, painting and drawing all fascinated her but it was an introductory experience of working with troubled youth while in college that really sparked her desire to teach art.

After graduating with a Bachelors of Education in Art Therapy and minor in Psychology from Pittsburg State University, Kansas, she started teaching in Las Vegas. Over more than two decades, Ashley has taught K-12 art education in elementary and high school. During this time, she completed her Masters in Educational Psychology from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, plus an endorsement in Computer Applications.
She currently teaches graphic design, animation, and digital illustration at the renowned Las Vegas Academy of the Arts. Her credentials include Adobe Certified Educator, Adobe Educational Leader, and is Nationally Board Certified Instructor in Career and Technical Education. During COVID and distance learning, Ashley helped train staff and students to adjust to online learning as a Canvas Champion.
As Ashley approaches retirement from public education she enjoys helping her former camp Nakanawa, a non-profit, through design and multimedia work to promote their programs and fundraising efforts. She is excited to tutor and instruct students individually and in small groups who wish to improve their artistic skills. She is also welcoming new design and mural projects from clients with her extensive experience in running a printshop at school using engraving, vinyl cutting, and large format printing to bring your ideas to life.
About
David Stroud
Growing up in Michigan, David drew since preschool and had a talent for capturing faces. After attending Kendall College of Art and Design where her earned his Bachelors in Fine Arts in Illustration, he worked briefly for Cutler Sports Apparel making t-shirt designs before moving to Las Vegas. There, he worked for the Las Vegas Review-Journal for eighteen years as their lead illustrator.

David collaborated with editors and reports on conceptual illustrations, caricatures, news features and infographics. In our shop, you can see his original bodies of work for sale. Working mostly in gouache and scratchboard, David is versatile in all mediums including digital.
While working at the paper, David won numerous awards for his work including Outstanding Visual Journalist and Best Illustration multiple years from the Nevada Press Association. When possible, David enjoyed contributing his talents to charities like the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, a cause that means a lot to him since he lost his grandmother to breast cancer.

After working for the paper, David became a muralist and sign designer for Trader Joe's, completing multiple murals of his original designs that showcased the local Las vegas culture while incorporating the brand's trademarks. It was then that David decided to join Ashley in teaching and pursued his graduate credits to start teaching art. He has been working as an elementary art specialist in Clark County School District and enjoys the thrill he sees in his students when they realize they can communicate through their own drawings and paintings just like he did at that age.
